Fertility Aids
Women get pregnant every day. Babies are born every day. But when you're the one who wants to get pregnant and have a baby it seems much more personal. It's nothing short of amazing.
I have four children and pregnancy still fills me with awe. It's an amazing thing that where there was nothing, there is now something.
My first three kids were not planned babies. I really wanted kids, but I was pretty content to just stick with "if it happens, it happens... and it'll happen when it does." Well I ended up with three gorgeous children with that approach. But I really wanted to be more conscious if I was going to have another baby.

For some reason I really wanted a baby born in the cooler months. I also wanted to make sure a new baby came at a time that was right for our family (my older three and I had been through some tough times).
This baby was going to be Scott's first child and we both thought it would be nice to have a boy first. So as I planned and prepared to try to conceive I researched natural gender selection methods, which were very interesting to me!
I worked hard to prepare for conception. I learned to chart my cycle and watch my fertility signals. It was really fascinating to me the way my body worked - and that it let me know it was working! I actually saw the "fertility signs" in my own body!
My cycles were a bit irregular with a very short luteal phase when I first started charting. I worked hard on my nutrition and I researched how night lighting can influence fertility. This dedication paid off and my luteal phases became longer and I felt much, much better.
As I worked on my own health and cycles I waited (generally pretty impatiently!) but the wait was worth it. I felt so much healthier.
I spent a lot of time thinking about a new baby, praying for the baby, and talking to Scott about what we wanted for our baby and for the all children.
The cycle finally arrived where we planned to TTC - and my hard work and patience paid off. I got pregnant on the first try!
Planning, preparing for, and conceiving our baby was a mind-blowing experience for me. Even though I already had three children I couldn't believe just how awestruck I was over being able to conciously assist in the creation of a new life.
So many resources focus just on the mechanics of getting pregnant - and all of that is interesting and fun. I share that with you here. But I'm also thrilled to share those things that really helped me - improving my nutrition, and consciously preparing to invite in a new little life. It is truly an amazing, awe-inspiring experience, and I hope to be some assistance as you begin your own journey.
