Best Positions for Getting Pregnant?
So just what are the best positions for getting pregnant? Don't worry – you're not going to need to get twisted up, down, and all around to make a baby.
In fact, we're really not sure if different positions make much of a difference in getting pregnant or not. The “research” is inconclusive. Now I'm not exaclty sure how “they” are going about “researching” the best lovemaking positions for babymaking – but there are probably some positions that favor conception.
The Goal
The goal of sex while you're trying to conceive is of course, to make a baby. From a conception standpoint the most important thing is for the sperm to meet and fertilize the egg.
The closer to the cervix a man ejaculates, the better, because this helps the sperm move quickly towards and through the cervix, up through the uterus, and to the egg waiting in the fallopian tubes.
The best positions for getting pregnant are those that let the man to have the deepest penetration – these positions let the sperm to get very close to the cervix. They'll be especially helpful if you don't produce a lot of fertile fluid. The sperm will be released where your fluids are most copious.

Recommended Positions
The tried-and-true, “traditional” position is the first choice. “Missionary position,” with the woman on her back and the man on top allows for him to be deep inside when the semen is released.
Another position that allows for deep penetration is “doggy style” – the woman is on her hands and knees and the man enters from behind. This position also allows the man to release sperm very close to the cervix.
Other positions, such as the woman on top or side-lying positions, tend to let the man to enter less deeply and are therefore not “ideal.”
A Caveat
The goal is to get the sperm to the egg and it can be useful to get them as close as possible. However, making a baby is not simply about mechanics.
Enjoy lovemaking. It's best if you conceive your baby in an open, conscious, and loving environment. Some studies show that conception is more likely if you have a longer lovemaking period (30-40 minutes) because it gets all fluids flowing more readily, and both man and woman have more of a chance to relax. So enjoy your favorite positions and finish in one of the best positions for getting pregnant in a longer lovemaking session, if at all possible.
Focus on making love to your man.
After lovemaking it can be helpful for you to stay in bed (or lying down wherever you are :)) for around 30 minutes. Elevating your hips with a pillow so the sperm can more easily move toward the cervix is thought to be helpful, too.
